From a pad of paper to 3rd party power cards off the Internet, players have many free alternatives to the official Power Cards. The simplified nature of these powers means they are easy to write down. With the nature of powers being spent during encounters and recharging afterwards, small reference cards that can be held when available and put aside when used makes senses. That means that PCs will be referencing these powers often, mostly in combat. While they are still complex features to a class, 90% of what your character can do are powers. Many class features, like the Bard's Words of Friendship are also defined as powers. The Powers system of 4th Edition Dungeons and Dragons gives each class an equal amount of powers to represent their capability as an adventurer.

If you look at the PC sheet in the back of Player's Handbook 1, you will notice that the sheet has a checklist for the powers, but not enough space to write them down.
What makes the 4th Edition Power Cards series different is that this product appears to have been a product line designed to work with the system from day 1, instead of an after-thought or as a third-party contribution.
Many gaming companies have done this for their system, or as an addition for the current edition of Dungeons and Dragons. The idea of quick-reference cards for RPG game play is not new.
