If the window shows an older version of macOS, click Software Update to download and install. Instead, I'd consider using automator (if you're not familiar with it, think Selenium but for desktop apps, and more) to send a click on the appropriate button, and then distributing an automator app that launches safari with the appropriate parameters, sends the click when the extension dialog appears, and then goes on to run Selenium-based (rather than automator-based) automations. To check your current OS version, click the Apple icon in the upper left and select About this Mac.

Extension install confirmation is a core part of Safari's security model, and is not easily circumvented. You can't do what you're after-at least, not with any commandline switch or plist hack that I know of. If you're just doing this for in-house deployment and don't mind if it breaks on a Safari upgrade, then you can quit Safari, install the extension into ~/Library/Safari/Extensions and update ~/Library/Safari/Extensions/ist (the format is rather obvious /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy is useful for such things). There might come a time when you need to reset the parameter RAM PRAM and in that case you will need to hear the sound multiple times so that you know when to release the keyboard command. I haven't tried it, but it looks as if it might work: The sound indicates that all systems are normal during the boot process. We've tried a variety of methods from trying to force updates via JAMF Management Commands, to utilizing scripts to create admin accounts, authorize the startosinstall, and then delete the admin account after and also scripts such asĮcho "" | ‘/Applications/Install macOS Monterey.Edit: Possible new method: The answer here might suggest (it's somewhat unclear) that, with a possible risk of messing up your future safari upgrades, you might be able to manually install an extension, skipping the confirmation prompt, via a file move and a plist hack.

Specific to the M1 machines, it does not seem like we've been able to find a way to force the upgrade without manual user input (user/pass). Use the following command to run a silent installation.

The issue we have is, we have a deadline to meet for all machines to be upgraded to Monterey, and as you all may know, you are going to have some outlying users who do not update. One thing to note is almost all user accounts are standard user's and not administrators. On the Mac OS, you must double-click the installer file after you mount the disk image.
